More money to promote Alberta tourism
A 26%increase in Alberta’s tourism promotion funds will make it more competitive for global tourism, according to Kate Rogers, manager for travel and media relations for Travel Alberta.
The area is being promoted as having natural beauty. It encompasses prairies and mountains.
“We have a four-season destination,” said Ms Rogers.
The area is sometimes known as “Canada’s Rocky Mountain playground.”
In addition to the mountains, it has national parks where dinosaur bones are abundant.
“You can take a hike along a dry river bed, and literally see bones sticking out of the land,” said Ms Rogers.
The area has another advantage for visitors in that is inexpensive, she said.
“We’re only province in Canada that does not have a province sales tax, which is often 7% across the board,” she said.
