Motor coach tours keeping hotels full
Hotel room nights attributed to motor coach travelers are soaring in Philadelphia, showing that aggressive marketing efforts are having results, says the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PCVB).
Hotel room nights attributed to motor coach travelers were up more than 26% last year from a year earlier, said the PCVB.
The group tries to get more motor coach business through trade shows, sending e-mails to tour operators and making personal visits. The PCVB has also invited more tour operators to see the city.
The organization suggests itineraries and hotel packages for special events and exhibitions. Next year’s blockbuster, the King Tut exhibit at the Franklin Institute, is expected to be a particular lure. Report by David Wilkening
