Mytravel to close Newcastle call centre
MyTravel is to close its call centre in North Shields, Newcastle, leading to the possible loss of around 100 jobs.
The company said a 90-day consultation starts on June 6 but it plans to find alternative positions for as many staff as possible.
A Mytravel spokesman said: “We confirm that we have this week advised staff at our Royal Quays call centre in North Shields that we are proposing to discontinue operations at this site due to the continued migration of consumers from our call centres to our websites.
“We will shortly commence with a 90-day consultation process to inform and consult employees as we seek to further adapt our business and distribution channels to align with consumer buying patterns. It is our intention to retain or redeploy as many staff as possible.”
