Nairobi flights suspended after crash landing
Flights into Kenya’s main airport were suspended yesterday after a passenger plane crash-landed on the runway in Nairobi.
The Kenyan Airports Authority said the turboprop plane had touched down on its belly at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after the landing gear failed. It was carrying six people.
No deaths or injuries were reported but all flights into Nairobi were diverted to Mombasa.
The airport, which is one of the busiest in east and central Africa, was shut for close to five hours before the runway reopened.
A huge fire caused by an electrical fault forced it to close for several days in August 2013.
