On Monday, Napier, a seaside city on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand, styled as the Art Deco Capital of the World, will launch an innovative campaign called ‘Give an Aussie a Break’ to encourage more Australians to visit the City.

With the horrific earthquake in Christchurch and the devastating floods in Australia, the people of Napier want to help in any way they can. They have already opened their homes, their hearts and their wallets to help the refugees from Christchurch, and now they also want to show support and comradeship to their Australian friends after the devastating floods.

The Napier City Council in conjunction with the city’s tourism operators and accommodation providers have put together some great holiday deals to help give Australians a break.

From 28 March to 31 August 2011, Australians can sign up for Napier’s ‘Give an Aussie a Break’ holiday package on www.napiercity.co.nz where they will be able to get some great discounts and special offers when in Napier.

Give an Aussie a Break accommodation providers are offering a FREE upgrade or best available room at time of booking for two nights. A FREE breakfast, gift basket or bottle of wine in the room for a booking of three or four nights and with the fourth night booking the fifth night will be FREE.
Activities, attractions, retail and hospitality offers are based around pay for one and get one FREE. Some of the great deals include; Pay for one and get one FREE to the National Aquarium of New Zealand, a FREE glass of bubbles for every paying adult on the Black Limousine Tour, a FREE tour around the City in a Classic 1937 car when staying at Bonnie Doon Accommodation, four people for the price of three on a wine tour for four through Prinsy’s Rural Expereince and Wine Tour, and with a one or two hour booking for four with On Track Adventures quad bike ride the fourth person goes FREE, plus many more.

Air New Zealand is also onboard and has put together special flight and accommodation packages to Napier.

Leading Australian actor and comedian Shaun Wayne (aka Peter D Flaherty) is helping Napier bring the ‘Give an Aussie a Break’ initiative to life and fronting an ad campaign in Australia and posting his adventures from his recent visit to the art deco capital of the world on his facebook site: www.facebook.com/ShaunWayne. Shaun conducted interviews with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key and Napier Mayor Barbara Arnott to name a few.

Mayor Barbara said: “We’re excited to be able to give Australains a break in our wonderful City. Napier is a great holiday destination that offers a diverse range of experiences from great eateries, wineries, beaches, architecture and outdoor adventures, all within a close proximity.”

The ‘Give an Aussie a Break’ package is available from 28 March to 31 August 2011 with some blackout dates. For further details visit: www.napiercity.co.nz.
