Nelson Mandela Bay – gateway to the Eastern Cape
Nelson Mandela Bay were one of many tourism bodies exhibiting at Indaba 2007.
Three places have been united to form what is now called Nelson Mandela Bay:
** Port Elizabeth;
** Uitenhage; and
** Despatch
Tarynne Goldberg, the Trade Promotions Co-ordinator of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism says that the city has a wide variety of attractions, from history and heritage, beaches and wildlife viewing, to entertainment and conferencing.
One of the areas major attractions is the Addo Elephant National Park, offering a unique game-viewing experience.
A new five star hotel is currently being built in the city to develop Nelson Mandela Bay’s reputation as a conference destination.
The city is the gateway to the Eastern Cape region, and is South Africa’s fifth largest city, with long stretches of beaches.
Nelson Mandela Bay is a melting pot of cultures as it was the first meeting point of the Khoisan, Xhosa, English, Dutch and German people in South Africa.
