New executive appointment for Amex business travel
American Express has announced the appointment of Bill Glenn as president and CEO of American Express Global Business Travel, taking over from Kim Goodman, who stepped down in December.
Glenn joined Amex in 2002, heading the North American merchant business and subsequently covering worldwide operations for pricing, marketing and strategy in 2005.
He then held the position of president of American Express Global Commercial Services since 2011.
The management reshuffle comes ahead of a planned joint venture agreement of the Global Business Travel division with Certares, a private investment firm.
Certares plans to invest between $700 million and $1 billion for a 50% share of the new company.
A statement from Amex said Glenn will be "continuing in this role upon closing of the joint venture transaction, which is expected to be in the second quarter of this year."
