New Hong Kong carrier Greater Bay Airlines takes off
New airline startup Greater Bay Airlines has taken flight. It had a low-key launch with the maiden flight to Bangkok, using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The new airline’s has been two years in the making..
Greater Bay Airlines was founded by Bill Wong Cho-bau, who also controls Donghai Airlines in nearby Shenzhen.
The two airlines will operate independently.
GBA has recruited staff primarily from the now defunct airline Cathay Dragon which was shut down by Cathay Pacific early in the pandemic.
