New meeting space serves up spirituality
The Hotel Sax in Chicago wanted something different for their meeting space. The result: 10,000 square feet of new space that may stimulate minds while at the same time providing relaxing spaces.
“Most of the meeting space around town is designed to be flexible and hoteliers say ‘we’ll customize it by getting some slinkeys and koosh balls, and we’ll call that a creative set,’” Adam Kaplan, director of marketing, told MeetingNews. “We wanted to do something more inspiring.”
The meeting space at the 350-room Sax, which already has 3,000 square feet of space, includes a retreat area with a modular sofa; a small meeting room with a fireplace to create a den-like feeling; a skylight element in the boardroom and four meeting rooms, each of which has an unique scent.
The Sax has also partnered with Microsoft to create cutting-edge technology.
“The idea is to take people out of what they’re used to, the four-walled meeting space,” said Mr. Kaplan. He adds:
“They’re more likely to come up with a new idea if they’re put into a unique setting.”
