New president for Thai Airways
Thai Airways International has named Charamporn Jotikasthira as its new president.
He will serve an initial four-year term with effect from next month after being selected unanimously from a four person shortlist
Charamporn was president of the Thai Stock Exchange between 2010 and 2014 and replaces air chief marshall Siwakiat Jayema who had been acting president since July after the resignation of Chokchai Panyayong.
He holds a bachelor degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard.
“Mr Charamporn has a strong background in IT which will help establish the company’s IT management system as Thai is focusing on investing in this sector, particularly a ticketing system,” said acting chairman Areepong Bhoocha-oom.
The national carrier has struggled for profitability in recent years and has made net losses for five straight quarters.
Last year the carrier posted a full-year net loss of THB 12 billion.
