London Stansted welcomed over 1.9 million passengers in March as the airport’s strong passenger traffic recovery continued.

The March total represents 94% of pre pandemic passenger traffic.

It was up 32% on March 2022.

Stansted’s European route network was boosted at the end of the month with the start of summer timetables.

Ryanair launched three-times-weekly flights to Newquay, and Wideroe started flights to Bergen, in Norway.

Jet2 also launched flights to Athens and Rome.

London Stansted has now handled a total of 25.5 million travelers for the year ending March 2023.

Gareth Powell, airport MD, said: “It’s been great to see strong performance continue into April, as we welcomed even more passengers over the Easter holidays.”

The airport said about 99% of passengers were able to pass through security within 15 minutes or less.
