A new website has been created for Jurys Inn as the hotel group confirmed Gill Harris as sales and marketing director.
She takes the position following two years as a full-time advisor to 30-strong group.
This saw her launch a new brand positioning – Exceptional Everyday City Hotels – supported by a new logo and website – www.jurysinns.com.
She previously held sales and marketing director roles with Whitbread for eight years and played a key role in the management team which led the acquisition of Premier Lodge and its rebrand to Premier Travel Inn.
Harris has overseen the launch of seven new Jurys’ hotels last year.
The company plans to spend £9 million this year on updating and expanding existing hotels.
The new positioning reflects a new classification for the hotel market which is not defined just by the current star rating system but by the customer experience, Jurys claims.
Although technically classified as a three star chain, guests don’t put it in that category. This reflects a combination of four star facilities, such as large reception areas, a separate bar and restaurant, and also consistent service delivery.
The new positioning has shown signs of helping Jurys Inn take advantage of a trend towards business travellers trading down from luxury to mid-range hotels.
Harris said: “There’s definitely a growing trend towards customers seeking more for less which includes not just cost savings but also better service.
“This trend plays to Jurys Inn’s strong point of difference and is reflected in the new positioning. I’m very pleased to have the opportunity to see Jurys Inn through this very exciting phase of growth for the business.”
CEO John Brennan said: “Gill’s vision for Jurys Inn is completely in tune with our DNA – we genuinely strive to make the exceptional our everyday.
“As a challenger brand, we need the best people in the business to make the most of opportunities for growth. 2010 will be an exciting year for us and Gill brings to the table the experience, skills and leadership we need to bring to life the Jurys Inn difference and increase our market share.”
