New station links Madrid airport to city’s financial centre
A new travel station has opened in Madrid making it easier to reach the city’s financial district from the airport.
The ‘Nuevos Ministerios’ tube and over-ground station has been expanded into a travel centre which allows passengers to get to the airport in 12 minutes, and offers a luggage check in service up to 24 hours before the flight.
The new station, which has been under developed during the last two years, covers an area the size of four football pitches and links over 50 tube stations on lines six, eight and ten as well as the regional over-ground lines.
A ticket from Nuevos Ministerios to the airport will cost €0.95 and the service. The improved station is also now home to 34 check-in desks for Iberia, Spanair and Air Europa airlines with more companies being gradually incorporated, facilities to buy flight tickets, 6000 m2 space for parking and a police station.
