Newark Airport delays continue as FAA issues persist
Flight delays are continuing at Newark Liberty International Airport on Friday.
It follows delays caused by equipment issues and staffing shortages, the FAA said.
These issues are happening at the Philadelphia air traffic control center which oversees Newark’s airspace.
It led to delays of several hours yesterday, with a full ground stop issued for a short time due to congestion.
There have been 1-2 hours’ flight delays at Newark on Friday.
Delays first started at the beginning of the week and have continued. There have been some flight cancelations with airlines rebooking passengers or issuing free waivers.
The FAA says there is currently a shortage of air traffic controllers of about 3,000.
Passengers are encouraged to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
