No plea from British Airways ‘bomb threat’ steward
A British Airways steward who allegedly made a bomb threat on a flight to London from Tokyo must wait until April to find out his fate.
Matthew Davis, 22, from Crawley, who is charged with communicating a bomb threat, was granted unconditional bail by Uxbridge Magistrates Court yesterday but told to return to court on April 10 for committal proceedings.
Davis, who refused to enter a plea yesterday, will find out then whether he will stand trial for the alleged offence.
He is accused of leaving a note on the aircraft’s toilet door which said: "The bomb on board will explode at 4pm". The court heard the note was found by another member of the cabin crew as the aircraft flew over the Middle East.
Davis was arrested after the aircraft, with 150 passengers onboard, landed safely at Heathrow. He has since been suspended by the airline.
