Nominations invited for AWTE Awards

Nominations have opened for the annual 2018 AWTE Awards, which aim to celebrate the achievement of members of the past 12 months.

This year the finalists will be selected by a panel of travel industry judges from the nominations put forward, after which members will be invited to vote for the winners from the shortlist.

The winners will be announced at the AWTE awards evening in London on September 10.

In 2008, the AWTE was left a legacy from founder member Joan Richardson, which is used to present three annual awards that recognise the achievements of women in travel.

In addition, this year a new award is being introduced, which the Association of Women Travel Executives said allows it to better represent the membership. The Ambassador Award celebrates male colleagues who actively encourage and support female employees within their business.

Chair Sarah Clayton-Turner said: ‘This year’s AWTE awards is going to be bigger and better than ever. I’m delighted that we’ve got some amazing judges on board and that we are also able to recognise our male colleagues in the industry who go a long way to develop women in their businesses.

"We have some amazing talent in our businesses and so we look forward to seeing some fantastic nominations and celebrating with them at the Mayfair hotel on the 10th September."

Members can nominate themselves, a deserving colleague or someone they admire as well as a company they believe supports women with their career in the industry so that the AWTE can publicly recognise their contribution.

At the 60th anniversary in 2014, the AWTE published a list of 60 influential women in the travel industry and commitment was made to add five names each year, for which nominations are also invited.
Nominations for all four awards and the 60for60 honours list can be completed on the form found on the AWTE website. The deadline is July 18.

The AWTE BENEVOLENT will also present three AWTE members with an Enterprise Gift, one for £1,000 and two for £500. These may be used for professional development, marketing, PR, social media skills. To apply you must have been an AWTE member for a minimum of one year.
