Norwegian Getaway to dock in Rio as Olympic floating hotel

Friday, 01 Aug, 2016 0
Norwegian Getaway will transform into a floating hotel along the Rio de Janeiro waterfront for the duration of the Olympic Games.

The ship has already departed Miami and will dock at Rio’s Pier Maua from August 4 to 22.

The 4,028-passenger ship will be used to house members of the International Olympic Federation, National Organizing Committees and corporate sponsors on behalf of the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee.

The 40-night private charter was brokered by cruise charter specialists Miami-based Landry & Kling Events at Sea.

The ship also served in a similar capacity as the so-called ‘Bud Light Hotel’ for Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 at the New York Passenger Ship Terminal.
