OAG offers Star Alliance flight tracker

Saturday, 15 Feb, 2007 0

OAG, the global travel and transport information company, announced today it is providing a fully hosted flight status alert service for the Star Alliance network.

This is available through the recently relaunched Star Alliance web site and provides business and leisure customers with a service which alerts them to changes to the scheduled departure or arrival time of a flight.

The Flight Tracker alert service enables customers travelling on the Star Alliance network to track flights of any member airline, irrespective of where they are based, and also to track interline flights where customers connect between two or more member carriers.

Customers simply register online to receive alerts via email or SMS message to a mobile phone or device.

OAG’s Flight Tracker service is powered by data supplied directly by the Star Alliance member airlines.

Duncan Alexander, OAG MD, said “The OAG Flight Tracker alert service compliments the existing alert services which some Star Alliance member carriers already provide in their home markets.”  “The OAG service works for anyone, anywhere, for any direct or connecting flight on the Star Alliance network.”

“Star Alliance is a significant customer for us because it is the largest airline alliance with its member airlines representing around one third of all flights in the world. We are delighted to be a part of the new Star Alliance web site. It’s a great example of how OAG can use its technological capabilities to provide information to customers via the channel of their choice.”

Philip Saunders, VP Commercial Star Alliance said, “It has always been Star Alliance’s aim to provide customer benefits over and above those offered by our individual member carriers.”  “Making flight tracking for all flights operated by our 17 member carriers available through our new website is a further good example of this and we are glad to be working with OAG in order to provide this innovative customer benefit.”
