Oceania Cruises becomes adult-only

Thursday, 08 Jan, 2026 0

Oceania Cruises is shifting to an adult-only cruise line.

The pivot is effective immediately, with new reservations only available for guests age 18 and older.

For bookings made prior to January 7, 2026, it will honor bookings for younger guests.

The adult only shift was in part spurred by guest feedback, said Chief Commercial Officer Nathan Hickman.

“What they love most about Oceania Cruises is the ability to travel with like-minded adults,” he said.

“A good segment of our guests already thought we were adult-only, because we don’t have a lot of kids. That made their presence on certain sailings – such as summer Alaska cruises, which attract a higher percentage of children – more noticeable.”

Without giving specifics, Hickman said only a small number of children sail with Oceania.

The average age of a typical Oceania guest is mid-60s the cruise line said.

“We’re going to be very narrowly defined, and we’re not even changing who our target guest is. It’s the same person. I think this is a move to better define and attract that guest.”
