Oman likely to be hit by cyclone
A tropical cyclone is expected to hit Oman from Friday evening, bringing torrential rain and gale-force winds.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is warning it is likely to cause flooding and mudslides.
Tropical Storm Mekunu, currently tracking across the Arabian Sea, is expected to make landfall in the south of the country.
The Joint Typhoon Warning Center said it is likely to slam into Oman just west of Salalah, the country’s second largest city with a population of 200,000.
The Foreign Office is advising visitors to monitor local media and follow the advice of the local authorities.
