Online travel bookers still growing
Travelers’ internet use is growing, though at a slower rate, reports the Travel Industry Association (TIA).
Their study found that nearly 64 million online travelers, or 30% of the US adult population, used the internet to search for travel information in the past year.
Of those, 46.6 million booked online travel.
“The number of Americans using the internet for travel planning remains stable at 63.8 million, reflecting slower growth in general internet use among the traveling population,” said the TIA.
But the number of travelers who book airline tickets, hotel rooms and other travel services online continues to grow. TIA’s report revealed those numbers were up nearly 6% from a year ago.
“And the number of online bookers doing all of their travel booking online continues to grow, with 40% now doing so, versus 29% a year ago,” said TIA.
