Onyx Hospitality checking in to Niseko,Japan
Thai based Onyx Hospitality Group is adding an eight country to its expanding portfolio.
It will bring the Amari brand to Hokkaido in Japan.
Following the signing of a management contract with Metropoly Holdings Ltd, Amari Niseko will open in a mixed-use development in the winter sports destination.
The 126 room property is expected to open in 2024 and will feature studio and one and two-bedroom suites.
There will also be an integrated all-day dining and bar venue.
The hotel is situated about two hours from New Chitose Airport in Sapporo.
The group has more than 50 properties open across its core brands Ozo, Amari and Shamam and expects to double its portfolio in five years.
Niseko is an ideal destination to debut in as a highly popular ski region and is popular during the summer, says Onyx CEO Douglas Martell.
As well as a recent expansion announced in its home market Thailand, Onyx has development projects in China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Laos.
"We’ll consider expanding into other areas outside Asia-Pacific as well, but now our priority is to commit to be the best mid-sized hospitality operator in the region," Martell said.
