Orion 2006 Tasmania
In early 2006 the luxurious Orion explores the wild side of Tasmania with three expeditions departing in January and February.
The voyages feature trips by Zodiac through the World Heritage Southwest Wilderness, hiking at Wineglass Bay and a visit to King Island. Each of Orion Expedition Cruises’ three 7-night itineraries offers a different perspective – including one with a complete circumnavigation of the island – Hobart to Hobart.
Orion’s guests can explore the spectacular coastline, islands and mainland of Tasmania at its very best, including the stunning Gordon River at Strahan, hiking at breathtakingly beautiful Wineglass Bay, sampling oysters at Freycinet, tasting cheese on King Island or discovering the Southwest Wilderness by ship’s Zodiac.
Two voyages to and from Sydney include a landing at the charming and historic old whaling town of Eden.
Orion’s guests will have the chance to play a round of golf at the exclusive Barnbougle Dunes course.
Life aboard Orion, exploring the remarkable coastline and islands of Tasmania, is a far cry from that which faced Bass and Flinders when they first circumnavigated Van Diemen’s Land in 1798 – 99. Both on board and on land, guests will have the opportunity to indulge in the freshest of Tasmanian seafood and produce, complimented by outstanding regional wines.
Limited space is still available on 3 departures: 7 January, 18 & 25 February 2006. Expedition fares from $4800 per person.
