Orion second vessel on schedule

Orion Expedition Cruises founder Sarina Bratton has confirmed that the company’s second ship, Orion II, is on schedule for delivery in April next year, and would operate itineraries in south east Asia.

The twenty-year old vessel, originally one of Renaissance Cruises’ fleet of what they described as ‘boutique ships’ is currently undergoing a major refurbishment estimated to cost $21 million

The ship has an ice-strengthened hull for voyages in the Arctic and Antarctic and is fitted with stabilisers. She’s equipped with Zodiacs and fast tender. The ship carries 100 passengers in 50 outside suites

It’s almost exactly six years since Orion first cruise and the addition of the second ship doubles the company’s capacity in what Bratton describes as “just the first step in the company’s ongoing growth”
