Outback tourist death still a mystery
The death of a British tourist in the Australian outback remains a mystery after a post mortem examination failed to establish a cause of death. As reported, 52-year-old Ethel Hetherington was found in the outback near the town of Alice Springs, 36 hours after going missing. Reports suggest that she visited a remote aboriginal community before attempting to walk to her hotel some 12 miles away in temperatures of around 40 degrees Centigrade. She is believed to have taken the wrong desert track, according to the BBC News website. Supt Col Smith is quoted by the BBC as saying: “We are waiting on a number of test results before the pathologist will be in a position to release a probable cause of death. What we can say is that there were no obvious signs of any suspicious activity.” Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad Ltd
