Outbreak at LAX infects hundreds of TSA, airline workers
Los Angeles International Airport has been hit with several Covid-19 outbreaks, affecting hundreds of airline workers and security screeners.
Over200 TSA officers tested positive since last month, according to the L.A. County Department of Public Health.
However, the TSA disputes this.
“There has not been any effect to security lines at LAX,” said TSA spokesperson Daniel D. Velez.
American Airlines have also been impacted.
Dozens of Southwest workers have been infected in recent weeks.
It’s worse at American with 154 infections, although it only represents about 2% of the airline’s huge LAX workforce
“We have been in close contact with the CDC and LA County Public Health officials throughout the pandemic and will continue to coordinate with them,” American said.
LA County is now recording about 6,600 new cases a day.
