Pacific Sun to visit HMAS Sydney site
SYDNEY – P&O Cruises has released its new programme of 2011 cruises from Fremantle.
Now on sale, the season runs from July to October 2011 and features 10 voyages on the Pacific Sun.
Pacific Sun will sail on two 16-night Flower of Asia cruises visiting the Indonesian ports of Semarang, Lombok, Bali and the island of Komodo, home to the Komodo dragons.
The ship will also call at the Australian territory of Christmas Island and cruise to the site of the wreck of the battleship HMAS Sydney, sunk in 1941 with the loss of all 645 crew.
Also on offer is a shorter 12-night Indonesian Adventure visiting Geraldton and Broome before sailing to Lombok, Bali and Komodo.
Pacific Sun’s eight-night WA coastal voyages will visit the towns of Geraldton, Broome and Exmouth.
The new programme also features two three-night cruises. Themes include a food and wine cruise and a comedy cruise, with prices from $459 per person quad share.
Launching the new 2011 programme, Carnival Australia senior vice president Jenny Lourey said, “The 2011 Pacific Sun program builds on P&O Cruises’ inaugural 2009-10 season.
“Not only will next year’s season be longer, it will include 50 percent more calls to Australian ports, as well as some great Asian itineraries.â€
The 47,000-tonne ship features a child-free Oasis spa retreat, an oceanview gym and coffee bar, as well as five restaurants and cafes, multiple bars and lounges and two pools.
