Passenger plane crashed after overshooting runway
A Russian passenger plane crashed after overshooting a runway at Moscow airport, killing at least four people.
There were between eight and 12 crew on board the Red Wings Tupolev-204 which was landing at Vnukovo airport, reports the BBC.
Four people were severely injured, emergency officials said. Two pilots, a flight engineer and an air stewardess died.
The airline was flying in from Pardubice, in the Czech Republic after dropping off tourists and then returning to its home Moscow base with just crew on board.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has ordered an investigation into the cause of the crash.
The BBC’s Steve Rosenberg, in Moscow, says investigators are looking into three possible causes – bad weather, technical failure and pilot error.
