Passenger volumes rise again for easyjet

Easyjet carried almost three million passengers during August, an 18% increase on the same month last year.

The low cost carrier said 2.9m passengers travelled last month with a load factor of 88.4%, down 0.2% on last August.

For the year, Easyjet has carried 29.16 million people, up 22.2% on last year, with load factors at 85.2, up 0.8%. Total revenue is 1.319 million, a 23% jump.

Chief executive Ray Webster said: “August was another strong month for easyjet. Load factors and passenger growth were both virtually unchanged and our unit revenue [total revenue per seat flown] continued to increase year-on-year.”
