Passengers injured after Saudia jet touches down without nose landing gear
Dozens of passengers were injured after a Saudi Arabian Airlines jet made a hard landing in Jeddah.
The Airbus jet was diverted to Jeddah after a fault was detected in the hydraulic system during the flight.
It had taken off from Medina and was en route to Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The aircraft, carrying 141 passengers and 10 crew members, circled above Jeddah for several hours as the malfunction caused landing gear to fail.
The pilot was then forced to make an emergency landing without nose landing gear, Saudi media reported.
The Airbus 330 suffered significant damage after skidding for some time with the nose on the tarmac.
"The passengers were evacuated by emergency slides. Fifty-two of them were slightly injured, while one female passenger suffered a fracture during the evacuation and is now receiving treatment," the Saudi Aviation Investigation Bureau said in a statement.
"AIB has launched an investigation into this accident."
