Paul Wait to join Southall Travel
Southall Travel Group has appointed Paul Wait as its new chief operating officer.
Wait joins from the GTMC where he has been chief executive since January 2013. He starts his new role in September.
During his four years at the GTMC, Wait has overseen a number of key changes, including a re-brand to evolve the organisation, a move into higher profile political lobbying and an increase in members and partners.
GTMC chairman Paul Allan said: "We wish Paul huge success in his future career and will begin looking for a new chief executive of the GTMC with the organisation in an exceptionally strong place.
"Paul’s extensive efforts, innovations and phenomenal drive for success have transformed the GTMC and we now have an opportunity to continue to build on his sterling work.
"Over the last few years the GTMC has become synonymous with an entrepreneurial spirit and has enjoyed a high profile.
"We are in the best possible position for the GTMC to continue to grow under the direction of the accomplished board."
Before joining the GTMC, Wait was general manager UK at Virgin Atlantic. He has also worked at American Express, where he was vice president, sales.
Southall Travel will relocate from Buckinghamshire to Mayfair in May.
