Peak air travel demand remains strong, EasyJet says

Air travel demand for next summer remains strong easyJet said.

However, off-peak periods will require discounting to stimulate demand.

It comes as the airline posted a pre-tax loss of £178 million.

EasyJet bookings showed higher ticket yields for spring to summer 2023, but demand falls away in winter months.

It says cheaper destinations Turkey, Egypt and the Greek islands are popular next summer.

October half-term is also selling well.

Ticket yields are up 18% for Christmas.

EasyJet’s all-inclusive programme is also popular due to uncertainty on costs in the months ahead.

“Outside of peak periods, there’s a need to stimulate the market to get air travel demand back,” CEO Johan Lundgren said.
