Phoenix becoming major convention destination
Phoenix is continuing its transformation into a big-league meeting destination.
The $600 million expansion of the Phoenix Civic Plaza Convention Center due t open this summer will triple the size of the facility.
It will have 900,000 square feet of rentable space and more than two million square feet altogether.
An atrium will connect the new building to Symphony Hall, which recently completed an $18.5 million renovation.
The expansion of the center is complemented by new hotel rooms, retail space, a light-rail system, residential condos and other revived real estate projects in downtown.
