Phuket set for junior triathlon
Phuket’s lifestyle destination, Thanyapura, will host the Thanyapura Junior Challenge Triathlon, part of the Challenge Laguna Phuket Tri-Fest 2013, on November 30.
Participants will be divided into Junior [6-8 years], Intermediate [9-12] and Senior [13-18] categories,
The event will give young athletes the chance to experience the world class sports facilities at Thanyapura, including its 50m Olympic standard outdoor pool, along with biking and running routes set within the surrounding nature of Khao Phra Thaew National Park.
"Phuket is really coming into its own as an international centre of triathlon events and we see it as our duty to encourage the growth of this interest in the younger generation," said Thanyapura director of sport academies, Craig Johns.
Two of the triathlon’s big names – Tim Jardine and Juergen Zack – coach at the Thanyapura Triathlon Academy.
