Pilot passes out hours after captain dies in cockpit
A flight to San Francisco was forced to make an emergency landing after the pilot passed out just hours after the captain of another US flight died in the cockpit.
The United Airlines’ flight carrying 200 passengers from Houston diverted to New Mexico after the captain told air traffic controllers that the first officer had fallen unconscious.
The first officer walked off the plane and was admitted to hospital but details of his ailment have not been released.
The emergency landing came a day after an American Airlines’ captain, 57-year-old Michael Johnston, died during a flight from Phoenix to Boston.
