Policeman admits killing two British tourists
A Thai police sergeant has reportedly admitted killing two British backpackers after going on the run for several weeks.
As reported by News From Abroad, Adam Lloyd and Vanessa Arscott were shot dead near a restaurant in the Thai town of Kanchanaburi, home to the famous Bridge over the River Kwai.
The Daily Telegraph quotes Somchai Vistetsingha as saying: “I admit to shooting Adam because I had been hurt by him very badly; I didn’t intend to shoot Vanessa. I shot Adam because he spat in my face. It’s a very bad insult – that’s why I could not stand for it.”
However, witnesses to the incident tell a very different story, the Telegraph reports, saying that the policeman ran over Ms Arscott in his car before “coldly” shooting her three times.
Thai authorities reportedly say the police officer could possibly face the death penalty.
