Prosecutors seeking damages from travel company
A hearing has been set for 27 February in Kansas to consider a motion by prosecutors seeking almost $900,000 in a civil lawsuit filed against both Travel Service Network Inc. and Grand Vacations, reported The Kansas City Star. The suit maintains the Bellevue, Wash.-based Travel Service Network violated Kansas consumer laws by misleading residents into paying high membership fees in return for non-existence travel-agent discounts. The companies have denied any wrongdoing, saying most members are satisfied with the discount travel packages sold in Kansas, Missouri and other states. The suit in Johnson County, Kansas, named 49 alleged victims who paid as much as $7,000 for benefits they claimed to have never received.–David Wilkening–
