Qantas gets it so wrong!
News Limited reports that Qantas IT staff who are about to have their jobs moved offshore to India have been asked to attend a cultural awareness course about the country.
The email is intended to target staff who have been retained to work with their Indian counterparts, but it also appears that the vast majority of the 300+ workforce who received the internal memo have actually been made redundant as a result of the transfer of their jobs to India.
The memo, obtained by News Ltd newspapers, said the course was designed to be “both educational and fun”, but News Ltd reported that at least one worker had described the training as an insult, the worker tellign News Limited, “I think it’s quite degrading,” “It’s completely insensitive to the way people are feeling.”
The course includes a brief history of India as well as sessions on the country’s culture and character.
