Qantas has ‘worst’ on-time record

According to Streem the situation isn’t getting any better for Qantas with new figures showing the airline has the worst on-time performance in Australia.

After months of negative press over aircraft breakdowns, glitches, aborted take-offs and an explosion on one of it’s Boeing 747s, new figures now show one in three of the airline’s flights are affected by delays.

A Government report showed than about one in three Qantas flights were affected by delays across Australia in the last two months.

In contrast, budget airlines including the Singapore Airlines owned Tiger Airways had far better on-time performance.

Qantas has blamed the figures on industrial action with it’s engineers.

However while strikes ended sometime ago, the airline’s on-time performance for June and July dipped to 68% and 63%, respectively.

Unions say their industrial dispute with the airline is over.

“The ALAEA is currently looking at the on-time issues with Qantas and ways we can work constructively together to get Qantas back on top of the on-time problems,” the ALAEA’s Steve Purvinas said.

“Our dispute with Qantas ended on July 18, and we now have a new agreement in place which 94% of engineers are happy with.”
