Qatar Airways to fly daily from Manchester

Saturday, 13 Dec, 2005 0

Qatar Airways is to increase the frequency of flights from Manchester to Doha to a daily service by next summer.

The carrier currently serves the Qatar capital with four flights a week from the North West airport but plans to add a fifth weekly service from February 11 and go daily from the start of the summer schedule on March 26.

The additional Manchester capacity will give the airline 28 flights a week between the UK and Qatar, including a twice daily link from Heathrow and daily from Gatwick.

CEO Akbar Al Baker said: “All our UK routes covering Manchester, London Heathrow and Gatwick are performing extremely well so it was only a matter of time that we step up capacity to meet the rising demand.”

He added that the airline looked forward to other opportunities to expand capacity even further across the UK in 2006.

The Manchester route will continue to be served by Airbus A330s in a two-class configuration of up to 24 seats in business class and 259 in economy.
