Qatar Airways ups stake in IAG
Qatar Airways has increased its stake in British Airways’ parent IAG from 9.99% to just under 12%.
The move, unveiled at this week’s Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, has fueled speculation that Qatar and IAG are looking to deepen their commercial ties, including on US routes.
Qatar Airways took the 9.99% stake in IAG in January 2015 and said it may consider increasing its stake further ‘over time’.
Last November, IAG chief executive Willie Walsh said he was delighted with progress in pursuing areas for deeper cooperation with the Gulf airline.
