Qatar increases flights from Australia for stranded passengers
Qatar Airways is offering some potential relief for some Britons desperate to return home from Australia with the news that it will launch additional daily flights from March 29.
The airline will add one extra flight a day from three Australian cities direct to Doha in Qatar, from where passengers can connect on to flights to the UK, said the airline.
It will offer one extra flight a day from Sydney, Melbourne and Perth to Doha.
The airline already operates at least seven flights a week from each of the three Australian cities.
Qatar will also launch a temporary new service from Brisbane to Doha.
It said that the extra flights being launched on March 29 will give it an additional 48,000 seats.
Many holidaymakers, backpackers and business travellers have been struggling to re-arrange flights home from Australia since airlines began cancelling services due to increasingly travel restrictions announced both in Australia and the UK. Further problems have been created by Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand refusing to allow entry to some or all transit passengers.
