Rail operator expands into river cruising

Saturday, 26 Jul, 2017 0

Rail operator Great Rail Journeys has launched a new river cruise operation, Great Cruise Journeys.

In partnership with AMA and Travelmarvel, it is offering eight holidays on the Danube, Douro, Main, Rhine and Rhone.

Also included is an exclusive charter of the 15-cabin Spirit of Chartwell, which once hosted Queen Elizabeth II, on the Douro River.

The operator said it plans to expand its programme for 2018 departures ‘to further explore Europe’s waterways’.

Group marketing and sales director Alex Roberts said: "Following the ongoing success of our escorted group rail and cruise programme, offering independent cruise holidays to our existing customers was a natural extension.

"Early sales have been extremely positive and we are excited about the prospects and opportunities for the brand."
