Rail Plus opens bookings for Rugby World Cup trains
Rail Plus, the leading General Sales Agent in Australia for Rail Europe, says that while most match tickets had been sold, ticketholders had not been able to lock in rail transits to regional host cities Marseille, Montpellier, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Tours, Lyon and Nantes.
These cities are on the Paris-linked rail networks covered by France Rail which has changed its normal bookings timelines to cater for RWC ticketholders.
Rail Plus is jointly owned by New Zealand investment company TTHL Ltd (NZ) and Rail Europe (RE4A-Paris). Rail Europe is the major global distributor of the European and British rail systems while RE4A is the distribution arm of the French and Swiss national railways.
Rail Plus national sales and marketing manager, Greg McCallum said that with Rail Plus’ access to Euronet, it was now able to make RWC rail bookings.
He expects sales to focus on the France Rail Pass, available for one to 10 days travel within one month.
“Given the Rugby World Cup runs September 9 to October 20, two passes may be required for some ticketholders,” he said.
For example, an 8 days pass is $629 adult 1st class, $536 adult 2nd class, $538 adult Saver 1st class, $455 adult Saver 2nd class, $459 Youth 1st class, $399 Youth 2nd class and $568 Senior 1st class.
Rail Plus says that France Rail Pass is cheaper than multi point-to-point trips purchased in France. The pass cannot be purchased in France.
