National Rail has revamped its website to make it easier and faster to use and will soon automatically alert travellers about changes to their journey.

The new-look site includes a quick journey planner which appears on each page, a links section to information such as rail cards while the live departures board now appears as a direct link from the home page.

There is a also a new Passengers Services section which gives details on transporting animals, information for families and groups, disabled travel and sleeper services.

Chief executive of National Rail Enquiries Chris Scoggins said the next development will allow travellers to subscribe to travel alerts which will keep them updated on any alterations to their journey.

Rail Passenger Council chief executive Anthony Smith said the revamped site is “another step in the right direction.”
