Record July for Lowcosttravelgroup

Lowcosttravelgroup reports record sales for July with trade-only bedbank Lowcostbeds continuing to deliver the greatest share of volume.

It says overall group revenue for the month increased year on year by 93% to £25m and almost a quarter of a million passengers were carried.

July passengers booked with lowcostholidays and lowcostbeds were up 90% year on year to around 101,000.

Resorthoppa booked around 132,000 passengers for July – up 30% year on year and was said to be ‘well on track’ to beat its total of 1 million passengers carried in 2009.

Head of trade sales Ann-Maria Stacey said: “our trade business is really growing from strength to strength as we continue to make significant investments in the sales team, our technology and the product.

“As well as major recent account wins we are continuing to focus on the independent sector and as a result have seen the number of agents who book with us increase tenfold over the past six months.”

Resorthoppa Managing director Tim Buckman said: “We are pleased with the results year to date.

“The summer has been fraught with unforeseen challenges for many and we have worked hard with the trade to help them increase their cross-sell of transfers where margins for them can be as high as 20%.”
