Rendezvous on a roll
SINGAPORE – The owners of the Rendezvous Hotels brand are embarking on a major expansion and refurbishment drive.
Straits Trading owns two hotel brands – Rendezvous and The Marque – the latter a boutique brand – with 13 hotels under management and four under development.
The Straits Times said the company intends to reposition Rendezvous and The Marque as business hotels following a substantial upgrading programme.
Straits Trading said it would target expansion in Australia, New Zealand, South-east Asia, India and the Middle East.
Iqbal Jumabhoy, head of a newly created Rendezvous Hospitality Company said, “Currently there are very few players who both own and manage hotel assets and who are based in Asia.
“We intend to establish ourselves as the regional leader by growing to over 12,000 rooms in the region by 2020.â€
