Reprieve for Heathrow as strike is called off
Union officials have called off a public sector strike involving immigration and passport workers planned for the eve of the London Olympics.
The strike had been predicted to cause chaos at Heathrow airport during its busiest day ever as thousands of spectators arrive for the Games.
The Public and Commercial Services union said the government had agreed to the creation of hundreds of new jobs.
