Retired agent gets to fly in plane that shares his name
A retired travel agent’s dream came true this week when he got to fly on an aircraft that shares his name.
Graham Ecob, who worked for Adams Travel in Aylesbury for 42 years, was given a free flight by Flybe on an aircraft registered G-ECOB.
Graham had spotted the Bombardier Q400 aircraft and had been determined to one day take a flight on it.
On Thursday, thanks to a free ticket from the airline, he took a flight in the aircraft between Heathrow and Edinburgh.
"I did a double take when I first spotted the registration on the Flybe aircraft. It made me laugh so I wrote to them with a photo and a copy of my identification," he said.
"I’m delighted that this coincidence has led to such a lovely opportunity."
Flybe chief commercial officer Roy Kinnear said: "We’re thrilled that Graham contacted us and we, too, thought this a truly bizarre coincidence – that also makes our aircraft pretty special. I imagine it’s not every day you discover you have a plane that has the same name as yourself!"
