Ronaldo announces opening of first boutique hotel
Footballing icon Cristiano Ronaldo has announced the first of his joint-venture hotels with Pestana Hotel Group will be launched on July 1.
On his Facebook page, Ronaldo announced: "In Funchal, my home town, we will launch the first hotel of my partnership with Pestana Hotel Group."
The post was accompanied by a picture of the property (below).
The hotel, in the cruise harbour of Madeira’s capital, is the first of four planned Pestana CR7 hotels in the joint venture with Pestana, which is the largest international Portuguese hotel group. Ronaldo and Pestana are co-owners and the properties will be managed by the Pestana Hotel Group.
The total investment in the four new hotels will be €75 million.
The other four locations are Lisbon (Historic Downtown), which will open in August; Madrid (Gran Vía) and New York (near Times Square).
Ronaldo already has CR7-branded underwear, footware and fragrance businesses. The CR7 brand is the main inspiration behind the four hotels, which will all be boutique in style and will appeal to the modern day millennial traveller.
All four will be open within two years.
